Key Responsibilities

As a Scientist at Pfizer, you will be at the forefront of pharmaceutical innovation. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Process Development: Conduct literature searches to identify optimal synthetic routes for APIs, intermediates, and regulatory starting materials (RSMs).
  • Optimization & Innovation: Lead process development initiatives to improve yields, reduce costs, and drive innovation within small molecule chemistry.
  • Experimental Design: Design and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to ensure robust, reproducible process development.
  • Lab Operations: Conduct feasibility, optimization, pre-validation, and validation studies while managing lab inventory and equipment qualification.
  • Technology Transfer: Facilitate the seamless transition of processes to manufacturing scale and provide technical support to resolve scale-up challenges or process deviations.
  • Characterization: Develop and characterize process-related impurities to maintain high quality standards.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all activities strictly adhere to cGMP guidelines and safety procedures. Prepare detailed scientific reports, protocols, and essential tech transfer documentation.

Qualifications Required

We are looking for candidates who combine academic excellence with practical industrial experience:

  • Education: A PhD in Chemistry is mandatory.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and API process development. Proficiency in analytical characterization techniques is essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of cGMP guidelines, process validation, Critical Process Parameters (CPP), and industrial scale-up procedures.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent scientific writing and documentation skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and solve complex technical problems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in small molecule drug development and impurity profiling.
  • Hands-on exposure to MS&T (Manufacturing Science and Technology), Kilo Lab, or Pilot Plant operations.
