Job Description:

As an Associate Product Safety Specialist, you will be an integral member of our R&D regulatory compliance team, supporting the safe and compliant development and distribution of our advanced surface finishing products. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ensuring adherence to global chemical safety regulations, and providing support to our R&D teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SDS and Label Management: Create, update, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels in compliance with Globally Harmonized System (GHS) standards and country-specific regulations. Ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Chemical Safety Expertise: Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding chemical safety, SDS information, and labeling requirements, providing clear and concise explanations.
  • Compliance Documentation: Prepare and maintain customs and compliance documentation required for international shipping and regulatory reporting.
  • Global Project Support: Actively participate in global projects related to product safety and regulatory compliance, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • R&D Guidance: Provide guidance to R&D teams on regulatory listings, trade secret protection, and available exemptions related to chemical substances.
  • International Compliance: Stay current with international chemical safety legislation and ensure company compliance with relevant regulations, including REACH, TSCA, and other global standards.
  • Audit Participation: Assist in ISO audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting the audit process.
  • Safety Communication: Contribute to the development of internal and external safety communication materials, ensuring clear and effective dissemination of safety information.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and organized records of SDSs, chemical inventories, and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Inorganic Chemistry is required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are essential for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documentation Skills: Strong documentation and observation skills are crucial for maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Independence and Accuracy: Ability to work accurately and independently, demonstrating a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Responsibility and Confidentiality: A high sense of responsibility and commitment to maintaining confidentiality is essential for handling sensitive information.
  • Adaptability and Teamwork: Adaptability to changing priorities and strong team communication skills are vital for collaborating effectively within a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of GHS and SDS authoring: Familiarity with global chemical regulations is preferred.
