Job Summary
The Sample Handling Assistant I is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of received samples within a laboratory setting. This role requires a strong focus on detail, adherence to standard operating procedures, and collaboration with team members to maintain a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field, coupled with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Process received batches in a timely manner while maintaining the highest level of quality and accuracy.
- Generate and maintain a comprehensive audit trail of all activities to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Perform on-call and after-hours duties as needed to support the team and maintain operational continuity.
- Ensure timely review and understanding of relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to departmental and interdepartmental SOPs.
- Complete all required training programs and maintain an up-to-date training file.
- Accurately document all activities and results for future reference, quality control, and audit purposes.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by collaborating with the team to generate new ideas for process enhancements and implement approved changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, etc.).
- 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with experience in sample handling and processing preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and software applications is desirable.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
