Job Description:
As an Oligonucleotide Synthesis Scientist, you will play a vital role in the production of high-quality oligonucleotides used in research, diagnostics, and therapeutic applications. You will be responsible for performing solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and quality control, ensuring that all processes adhere to the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oligonucleotide Synthesis: Perform solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis utilizing automated synthesizers, adhering to established protocols and optimizing processes for efficiency and yield.
- Deprotection, Cleavage, and Purification: Execute deprotection, cleavage, and purification of synthesized oligonucleotides using techniques such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE).
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous batch records and documentation, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
- Process Optimization: Support scale-up activities and contribute to the optimization of synthesis processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Instrument Maintenance: Perform routine instrument calibration and maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of synthesis equipment and analytical instruments.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate closely with QC and analytical teams to ensure the quality and integrity of synthesized oligonucleotides, contributing to the overall quality assurance process.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot issues during synthesis and purification, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to ensure the smooth operation of processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in oligonucleotide synthesis and purification techniques, and actively contribute to the development and implementation of new and improved protocols.
Eligibility & Qualifications:
- Education: MSc in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology (graduating class of 2023-2025).
- Experience: 0-1 year of hands-on experience (academic project or internship in oligonucleotide/peptide synthesis is highly desirable).
- Knowledge: Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of organic and phosphoramidite chemistry is essential.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with HPLC, UV spectroscopy, and MALDI-TOF is preferred.
- Soft Skills: Excellent learning attitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are crucial.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for documentation, presentations, and collaboration with other team members.
