Job Summary

As a Mortgage Underwriter at HCLTech, you will evaluate loan applications to ensure compliance with lending policies, credit risk assessment guidelines, and regulatory frameworks. This role requires excellent financial analysis, risk evaluation, and communication skills for interacting with brokers, lenders, and onshore clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit and review loan files for compliance and accuracy.

  • Analyze applicants’ financial, employment, and credit information.

  • Evaluate and apply the 4 Cs of Credit (Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral).

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and company underwriting standards.

  • Assess credit risk and determine loan approval or decline.

  • Communicate effectively with external stakeholders and brokers.

  • Review property valuations, income verification, and Loan-to-Value Ratio (LVR).

  • Detect potential fraud and ensure responsible lending compliance.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Attention to detail and sound time management.

  • Prior experience in Mortgage Underwriting or Quality Control (3+ years).

  • Experience working with onshore clients is an added advantage.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (any discipline)
Experience: 3–8 years in Mortgage Underwriting (Australia, US, or UK domain preferred)
