Job Description:
As a Medical Coder HCC, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently assigning ICD and CPT codes to patient medical records to support healthcare reimbursement and data analysis. Your primary focus will be on Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding, ensuring compliance with established coding guidelines and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly review and analyze patient medical reports, including physician notes, lab results, and other relevant documentation.
- Assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes based on the information documented in the medical record, adhering to coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Apply a comprehensive understanding of HCC coding principles to accurately identify and assign relevant diagnosis codes that reflect the patient’s health status.
- Ensure coding quality and accuracy, aligning with HCC standards and company policies.
- Utilize your knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to interpret medical documentation and assign appropriate codes.
- Maintain coding productivity and compliance benchmarks, meeting or exceeding established performance metrics.
- Stay updated on current coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with other members of the coding team and other healthcare professionals to resolve coding-related questions and issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in HCC medical coding.
- Candidates without formal coding certifications are also encouraged to apply.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (preferred).
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret medical charts and documentation accurately.
- Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Immediate availability to join is highly preferred.
- Must be able to work on-site at our office in Hadapsar, Pune.
