Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Data Abstractor, you will play a critical role in the accuracy and integrity of our clinical research data. Your primary duties will include:
- Data Abstraction: Reviewing electronic medical records (EMR) to extract precise, structured clinical information according to project-specific protocols.
- Clinical Interpretation: Analyzing diagnostic reports, pathology results, hospitalization records, and detailed medication histories.
- Quality Assurance: Applying strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to clinical datasets to ensure they meet study requirements.
- Documentation: Identifying and accurately documenting adverse events (AEs) and treatment outcomes.
- Data Entry: Inputting extracted data into Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems with high attention to detail.
- Collaboration: Working closely with project leads to resolve data queries and ensure consistent data quality.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintaining high standards of data accuracy and adherence to research compliance protocols throughout the lifecycle of oncology and chronic disease research projects.
Eligibility Criteria
We are looking for candidates with a strong clinical foundation who are eager to pivot into the data analytics side of the healthcare industry.
Required Qualifications:
- BDS / MDS: Specifically in Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine, or Public Health Dentistry.
- Nursing: B.Sc Nursing or M.Sc Nursing degrees.
Preferred Knowledge:
- A foundational understanding of oncology (cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery pathways).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and standard EMR systems.
- Previous exposure to pharmacovigilance, clinical data, or large-scale healthcare databases is considered a significant advantage.
Required Skills
- Clinical Acumen: Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and patient records.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills to handle large, complex datasets.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working in a digital-first environment (90% of the role is system-based).
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
