Job Description:

As a Statistical Data Scientist at Pfizer, you will play a critical role in the analysis and interpretation of clinical trial data, contributing directly to the development of life-changing medicines. You will collaborate with a team of experienced statisticians, clinicians, and programmers in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

Associate, Statistical Data Scientist (Chennai):

  • Perform hands-on programming for statistical study deliverables, adhering to industry standards and Pfizer’s internal guidelines.
  • Develop and QC analysis-ready datasets, tables, listings, and figures (TLFs) using SAS, R, or Python.
  • Support programming leads with study documentation and contribute to the maintenance of audit trails.
  • Conduct quality control checks on peer programmers’ outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Follow established coding standards and ensure programming practices comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with programming leads to clarify specifications and resolve programming-related issues.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on data standards, CDISC, and advancements in statistical programming methodologies.

Senior Associate, Senior Statistical Data Scientist (Mumbai):

  • Independently manage medium-to-high complexity programming deliverables, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
  • Work closely with global clinicians and statisticians to understand study objectives and translate them into programming specifications.
  • Program datasets and TLFs using SAS, R, or Python (approximately 80% of workload), ensuring high quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Perform standards programming activities across multiple projects and portfolios, contributing to process optimization and standardization efforts.
  • Lead quality control activities, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to established data standards.
  • Contribute to global SDSA (Statistical Data Sciences and Analytics) initiatives, participating in discussions on best practices and process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot complex programming issues, providing timely updates to leads and proposing effective solutions.

Qualifications (Applicable to Both Roles):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: SAS, R, or Python.
  • A solid understanding of clinical trials methodology and biostatistics principles.
  • Familiarity with CDISC ADaM/SDTM standards is highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global team environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
