Responsibilities

As a Junior Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the accurate dispensing of medication and the efficient management of pharmacy operations. Key duties include:

  • Medication Management: Overseeing the procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines and healthcare supplies.
  • Administrative & Digital Tasks: Utilizing computer applications to manage inventory and maintain comprehensive patient records in compliance with Gujarat Civil Services regulations.
  • Patient Interaction: Providing clear instructions to patients regarding medication use and maintaining professional communication with healthcare staff.
  • Language Proficiency: Ensuring effective communication with the public and colleagues in both Gujarati and Hindi.

Requirements

To be considered for the Junior Pharmacist position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications: A Degree or Diploma in Pharmacy (or an equivalent qualification) from a recognized university.
  • Professional Registration: Mandatory active registration with the Gujarat Pharmacy Council.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Hindi and Gujarati.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of computer applications and digital data management.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be 35 years of age or younger. Age relaxations apply in accordance with government regulations. (Note: Current SMC employees are exempt from the upper age limit).

Salary & Benefits

The Surat Municipal Corporation offers a structured compensation package:

  • Initial Training Period: A fixed monthly salary of Rs. 17,400/- for the first three years.
  • Post-Training Pay Scale: Upon successful completion of the training period, employees will move to the Level-5 Pay Matrix (Range: Rs. 29,200 – Rs. 92,300).
