Job Summary
* Function: R&D Biotechnology (Molecular Biology and Mammalian Cell Culture)
* Experience Required: 2 to 7 years of relevant industry experience
* Education Qualifications: M.Sc., M.Tech., or Ph.D. in Biotechnology or Biochemistry
* Location: Vadodara
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our R&D Biotechnology team. As an integral part of our research and development division, the selected candidate will focus on cutting-edge work in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology. We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background who is passionate about therapeutic protein development and committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific research.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working alongside cross-functional teams, contract research organizations (CROs), and contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs). This role is designed for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable with technical troubleshooting, and proficient in complex laboratory documentation.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for executing high-level experiments that drive our therapeutic protein pipelines. Your core duties will include:
Technical Execution: You will conduct hands-on laboratory work in both mammalian and microbial cell culture systems. You should be adept at therapeutic protein expression and possess a deep understanding of purification processes utilizing E. coli and yeast expression systems.
Molecular Biology Expertise: You will be tasked with performing advanced molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, precision primer design, and the generation of expression vectors. Characterization of these vectors and other related molecular tasks will be central to your daily operations.
Cell Line Development: A significant portion of your role will involve the generation of CHO-based stable monoclonal cell lines specifically for the production of monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic proteins.
Cell Bank Management: You will be responsible for end-to-end cell bank preparation and maintenance. This includes single-cell cloning, conducting fed-batch shake flask studies, and managing the preparation and characterization of Master Cell Banks (MCB), Working Cell Banks (WCB), and End of Production Cell Banks (EPCB), strictly adhering to ICH guidelines.
Collaboration and Documentation: You will act as a technical liaison, working closely with various internal and external teams, including CROs and CDMOs. You will lead technology transfer processes, ensure all work strictly complies with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and proactively design experiments to troubleshoot technical challenges. Diligent documentation is a cornerstone of this position; you must maintain precise, up-to-date experimental records using Laboratory Notebooks (LNB) and Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) systems.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Academic Background: A postgraduate degree (M.Sc. or M.Tech.) or a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Biotechnology or Biochemistry is mandatory.
Professional Experience: We are looking for candidates with 2 to 7 years of direct, hands-on experience in the biotechnology sector. Proficiency in both molecular biology and mammalian cell culture is essential.
Technical Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of cloning, vector design, and expression systems. Experience with regulatory compliance, particularly ICH guidelines regarding cell bank characterization, is highly preferred.
Problem-Solving and Communication: The nature of this R&D role requires exceptional analytical skills. You must be able to identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot complex biological experiments, and communicate results effectively to both scientific and project management stakeholders.
Work Ethic: We value individuals who are proactive, capable of working independently under minimal supervision, and committed to upholding the rigorous quality standards required in a professional laboratory setting.
