Job Summary:
Jubilant Biosys Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to join our Process Research & Development (PR&D) team in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This role is ideal for professionals with 2–6 years of experience in organic chemistry who are passionate about scaling innovative chemical compounds from the laboratory to production. You will work within a state-of-the-art facility, contributing to global pharmaceutical projects while advancing your career in a collaborative, research-driven environment.
About the Role
As a member of our R&D department, you will play a critical role in the synthesis and optimization of complex chemical processes. We are looking for individuals who possess a strong foundation in synthetic organic chemistry and a proven ability to manage multi-step reaction sequences. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that new chemical entities (NCEs) are developed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the highest scientific standards.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this position include:
- Organic Synthesis: Execute complex multi-step organic synthesis and perform various functional group transformations.
- Process Development: Develop and optimize scalable synthetic routes, transitioning processes effectively from gram-scale to kilogram-scale.
- Laboratory Operations: Manage sensitive and pyrophoric reactions with strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines.
- Data & Documentation: Maintain precise and comprehensive experimental records using electronic lab notebooks. Ensure all experimental data is accurately recorded and documented.
- Analysis & Interpretation: Utilize analytical tools and data to guide experimental design. Synthesize, purify, and characterize intermediates and NCEs.
- Research & Planning: Conduct thorough literature searches using platforms like SciFinder to troubleshoot reactions and improve synthetic methodologies.
- Technical Proficiency: Utilize scientific software, including ChemDraw, for structural drawing and reporting.
- Time Management: Demonstrate the ability to execute multiple concurrent reactions while maintaining a high level of productivity and accuracy.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Master’s degree (MSc) in Organic Chemistry.
- Experience: 2 to 6 years of hands-on experience in process development and chemical synthesis within a pharmaceutical or research setting.
- Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of advanced organic chemistry concepts, reaction optimization techniques, and analytical interpretation.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and scientific software such as ChemDraw.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
