Roles and Responsibilities
Selected Junior Research Fellows will be responsible for conducting rigorous research in their respective fields of specialization. Fellows will work closely with senior scientists and project leads to achieve project milestones. While the core responsibilities focus on experimental research and documentation, fellows are expected to maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity and contribute to the successful execution of defense-related projects.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Junior Research Fellowship, candidates must meet the following academic and age requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree in M.Pharm, M.S. (Pharm), M.Tech (Pharm), or M.Tech. The specialization should be in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmacology, or Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
- Note: Only candidates who hold their final degree or a provisional degree certificate will be considered eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: Applicants must not exceed 28 years of age as of the date of the walk-in interview.
- Age Relaxation: Government-mandated relaxations apply, offering an additional 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
Fellowship Terms
- Compensation: The fellowship carries a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000, along with applicable House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per current regulations.
- Duration: The initial engagement is for a period of two years. Depending on the candidate’s performance and the requirements of the project, the fellowship may be upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) and extended for a third and fourth year.
- Nature of Appointment: Please note that this is a research fellowship. It does not provide any automatic right or claim for permanent absorption into DRDO or government service. Selection remains at the sole discretion of the DRDO recruitment committee.
Application and Selection Process
Interested and eligible candidates are required to follow these steps for the application process:

- Interview Attendance: The selection process will be conducted via a walk-in interview on 19 May 2026.
- Venue: The interview will take place at the Defence Research Laboratory (DRL), DRDO, Solmara Military Station, Dekargaon, Tezpur, Assam, 784001.
- Reporting Time: Candidates are expected to report at the venue between 09:30 AM and 10:00 AM.
Documents Required at the Time of Interview
Candidates must arrive at the venue with the following documents:
- Original certificates and testimonials regarding educational qualifications.
- A valid government-issued ID, specifically an AADHAR card.
- Copies of any published research papers or thesis work completed during their academic tenure.
- A complete set of photocopies for all documents and the application form.
- Candidates currently employed in government departments, PSUs, or autonomous bodies must provide a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from their current employer.
Important General Conditions
- No Travel Allowance (TA) or Dearness Allowance (DA) will be provided to candidates for attending the interview or for the purpose of joining the fellowship.
- The number of vacancies mentioned may change at the discretion of the laboratory based on current project requirements.
- In the event of any discrepancies during the recruitment process, the decision of the Centre Head at DRL, Tezpur, will be considered final and binding.
